The GNOME Project is a project that initially aim to create a computer desktop environment which is easy to use, the software that are considered free by the Free Software Foundation. Currently GNOME is a desktop environment most used by Linux users.
Many software created under the banner of the GNOME project, and some of them released as The GNOME Desktop. Desktop is then combined with other software (such as the kernel) to create a complete system, like GNU / Linux or Solaris from Sun Microsystems.
GNOME is the official desktop of GNOME Project and the correct pronunciation is / gənəʊm /. This name was created as an acronym of GNU Network Object Model Environment, but the use of the name is now considered obsolete.
GNOME has been partially translated into Indonesian. Coordination is done through Damned Lies.
